Launch party video available

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the latest entry in the storied video game franchise, was released in North America last week. On Sunday, February 17th, John Bush joined a host of other musicians to perform songs from the soundtrack at an official launch party at LA’s Universal CityWalk. Live footage from the concert, which was held at the Hard Rock Café, is available on youtube.com HERE.

John Bush comments on his involvement: “I was asked through Vince at Metal Blade if I wanted to sing a couple of tracks for Metal Gear’s Revengeance. I was excited to be a part of it cause I never sang on a video game before. Jamie Christopherson (www.jamiechristopherson.com) is the musical director and he created some killer, heavy tunes. When you play “Metal Gear Rising Revengeance”, listen for the songs ‘Return to Ashes’ and ‘The Hot Wind Blowin’!”

Additional photos and info from the launch party can be found on geekexchange.com. For more information on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, visit platinumgames.com.

NEWS: Metallica announces 2013 Orion Music + More Lineup!

Feb. 25, 2013

METALLICA ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR

2ND ANNUAL ORION MUSIC + MORE FESTIVAL

AT BELLE ISLE IN DETROIT JUNE 8 & 9

(Los Angeles, CA – February 25, 2013) — Metallica, in conjunction with their friends C3 Presents, are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2013 Orion Music + More Festival, to be held at Belle Isle in Detroit, MI on June 8 and 9.   Headliners will include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar, while the festival will also feature amazing acts including Gogol Bordello, Foals, Tomahawk, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips and local Detroit bands The Dirtbombs, DEATH and BATTLECROSS.

“Last year’s Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members,” said Lars Ulrich. “The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ’13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the fuck on!”

Orion Music + More will feature more than 30 bands across 5 live music stages plus a lifestyle element that reflects each of Metallica’s band members many personal interests. Detroit will see the return of James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp alongside the Metallica Museum and many other fan favorite attractions.

The inaugural Orion Music + More was held in 2012 in Atlantic City, NJ with headliners Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Avenged Sevenfold. The 2-day festival was met with praise from both fans and critics alike: “Orion Music and More Fest was curated to be a tremendously fan-friendly experience,” said Rolling Stone. The Village Voice said “the way that the band left its stamp on all aspects of the festival (particular the big-tent aspect of the musical lineup) gave it a charge of intimacy and care that was much more present than at other multi-band, multi-day extravaganzas I’ve attended in recent years.”

The Metallica Met Club fan club presale starts February 26th at 10am (Eastern) and runs through February 28th at 10pm (Eastern). Met Club members get first dibs on buying festival tickets with a couple of options to choose from:

NEWS: WHITESNAKE TO RELEASE NEW DVD/LIVE CD PACKAGE: “MADE IN JAPAN”!

Feb. 15, 2013

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of legendary rock band Whitesnake’s new DVD/live CD package, MADE IN JAPAN.  MADE IN JAPAN is set for release on April 19th in Europe (22nd in the UK) and April 23rd in North America and will be available in several formats: a deluxe 2CD/DVD edition, Blu-ray and a standalone DVD.  The performance footage is shot in stunning HD in 5.1 and stereo and is taken from Whitesnake’s co-headlining set at the “Loud Park” festival on October 11th, 2011 held at Saitama Super Arena in Japan during their “Forevermore World Tour.”  The performance was initially recorded only for Japanese TV and future Loud Park promotions, but after three songs were broadcasted on a Loud Park highlights program in Japan, Whitesnake received unprecedented requests for this performance to be made available to the general public.

MADE IN JAPAN contains songs from Whitesnake’s most recent studio album, FOREVERMORE, as well as classic hits such as “Is This Love,” “Still Of The Night” and “Here I Go Again.”  The bonus CD also includes never-before-heard outtakes and acoustic versions of material from the award winning FOREVERMORE album that were recorded during soundchecks on the 2011 Japanese tour.. Additional DVD content includes various band photo slideshows and fan-shot videos.  Please see below for the full content listing.

Formed in 1977, and steered by the legendary David Coverdale, Whitesnake carry a rightful reputation as one of the world’s leading rock bands. Coverdale’s blues roots, combined with a feral sense of rock and roll, have consistently shaped the ‘Snake’s sound along with Coverdale’s love and appreciation of impeccable musicianship.  Whitesnake’s ascent to the very top of the rock n’ roll heap was confirmed with 1987’s self-titled mega-platinum album, which saw two massive Top 10 hits, two #1 singles with “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love” and a virtual 24-hour domination of MTV around the world.  David Coverdale was recently named one of Revolver’s “100 Greatest Living Rock Stars.” and the UK’s ‘Kerrang!’ voted David Coverdale the ‘Last Great Rock Star’.  Musicians on MADE IN JAPAN include David Coverdale (vocals), Doug Aldrich (guitars), Reb Beach (guitars), Michael Devin (bass), Briian Tichy (drums) and special guest Brian Ruedy (keyboards).

NEWS: GWAR Announces Second Leg of “Fate or Chaos” Tour!

Feb. 15, 2013

GWAR Announces Second Leg of “Fate or Chaos” Tour
After spending months deep inside their arctic fortress working on what will be their next album, your Lords and Masters GWAR have announced their return to the road in North America. The second leg of the “Fate or Chaos” tour is scheduled to kick off April 10th in Tucson, AZ and will run through April 25th in Jacksonville, Florida. Support on the tour will come from Warbeast and Wilson. Tickets go on sale this Friday February 15th.

Briefly putting down the crack pipe, lead throat thing Oderus Urungus spoke about going back on tour:
“As you humans amuse yourself with your mundane holidays, it has been a time of intense activity for GWAR, as we record our 13th studio album– the first one with our new Scumdog brother, Pustulus Maximus!”

The Filth-Lord continued– “We begin this year’s festivities with the second and final leg of our Fate or Chaos tour, so everybody who missed the first leg can see Cyber-Jesus get his fucking ass handed to him. Then it’s back in the studio to work on all the hulking war machines we shall need on our devastating, brand-spanking new tour, after the album drops at the end of the summer! Can you believe I said drop? How fucking stupid!”

Oderus Urungus and Balsac the Jaws of Death, recently took New York by storm when they were in town filming a segment for the SyFy TV Show “Oddities”.

The guys were once again recruited by MTV’s Next Movie to give their critique of another Steven Spielberg directed, Oscar nominated film. The last time they reviewed a movie for Next Movie they reviewed “War Horse” it was only fitting that “Lincoln” be next. Check out Oderus and Balsac’s review HERE.

Oderus and Balsac recently stole the show .as guests on the “Artie Lange Show”. Check out highlights of their appearance HERE.

The summer will also herald the fourth annual GWAR-B-Q, and this year is shaping-up to have the most colossal, bone-crushing line-up yet! But that’s not all from your toxic mutant under-lords. Rumors of boxed sets, GWAR-B-Q sauce, GWAR beer, and long-awaited “comedy” albums abound. Further details about all of these projects would have to wait until “we get our shit together”, said Oderus.
